Athabasca & District Seniors Society Newsletter May 17, 2024

The Board met on Tuesday this week. The meeting was largely spent reviewing our financials and completing other administrative tasks. At the end of April, our year-to-date revenues exceeded our expenses by just under a $1000.00. This was largely due to the profit (approximately $4500) that we made from the Perogy Supper. Just over 300 individuals attended the supper. In April, we also had 121 individuals attend our pancake breakfast, and bingo continues to do well. If anyone is interested in becoming a bingo caller, please contact Stuart McMillan at smcmillan@mcsnet.ca.

The food safety course is being offered by AHS to the general public on July 17–18. The cost is $125/person, and one must register to attend. Space is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. For more infomation, follow this link: https://app.univerusrec.com/AHSEPHPub/courses/index.asp. The Senior Society will reimburse members upon proof of completion of the course and submission of an expense claim.

The Jubilations trip on May 21 is fully booked and is scheduled to depart at 8 am. Thanks again to Bernice Hewko for organizing this. On Monday, June 3, PVL has scheduled a bus trip to WEM and Walmart in St. Albert. The bus will leave PVL at 8:30 am and will return at 6:15 pm. The cost is $25/person and anyone may come. The deadline for payment is Monday, May 27. Cheques are payable to PVL Fundraising Club and should be given to Bernice Hewko. One will spend approximately 4 hours at WEM and 1 hour at Walmart. Lunch is at your expense.

Our next Pancake Breakfast is Tuesday, May 28, 7:30–10:00 am. Hope to see you there.
