Athabasca & District Seniors Society has a wide variety of fun and helpful activities availalble for our all of our members! We have reoccuring scheduled activites as well as a great variety of entertaining and/or educational special events to attend such as exercise class, presentations on health and wellness, pool time and more!

ITINERARY

Times are approximate except for leaving the Senior Centre.


8:30 AM – Leave the Athabasca Senior Centre

9:00 AM – Leave Pleasant Valley Lodge

We will stop for a washroom break somewhere in St. Albert as there are no washroom facilities at the Chapel.

10:45 AM – Arrive at the Father Lacombe Chapel

12:30 PM – Leave the Chapel

12:45 PM – Arrive at Beijing House for a Chinese buffet

2:15 PM – Leave Beijing House

2:30 PM – Arrive at the St. Albert Botanic Park

4:00 PM – Leave for home

5:30 PM – Arrive in Athabasca


COSTS

  • The cost of the LCOS bus will be $25 per person.
  • The cost of the Father Lacombe Chapel is a cash donation paid by each individual.
  • The cost of the Beijing Buffet is $19.95 per person + tax + 18% gratuity paid by each individual.
  • The cost of the St. Albert Botanical Gardn is a cash donation paid by each individual.

We will have a tour of the Father Lacombe Chapel (oldest building in Alberta), the grotto, and the cemetary. This area is wheelchair accessible. There is also an old schoolhouse which is a 10-minute walk away for those who wish to walk there.

The St. Albert Botanic Park is a garden dedicated to the collection, cultivation, and display of a wide range of plants. The park is maintained and operated by volunteers. Please do not pick any of the flowers!.

The park is wheelchair accessible. There are benches in the park for people to have a rest. There are washrooms available and a small gift shop. There is ice cream available to purchase. There is no coffee or tea available.


Please dress for the weather as this will be a rain or shine tour!

Payment for the bus needs to be made by August 7, 2024. Cheques are payable to the Athabasca & District Senior Citizens Society. You can give them to Bernice Hewko.


We need at least 30 participants to make a go of this!


RECURRING EVENTS


Pancake Breakfast

Our well-known Pancake Breakfast is available the last Tuesday of every month, running 7:30–10:00 am! Only $12.00 for pancakes, ham, sausages, eggs, juice, and coffee!

And watch for our annual spring perogy and fall beef dinners!

Drop-In Cards

Join us every Tuesday from 1:00–4:00 pm to enjoy a fun card game like bridge or canasta! And we have a crib tournament twice a year, too! Come for the cards, stay for the good company and laughs!

Bingo Night

Everyone 18 years old and up is welcome to join us for Bingo Night, the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Mondays of each month! A great excuse for a night out, with a guaranteed win of a good time!

Exercise Class

Through the Primary Care Network, we offer exercise classes for age 65 and over on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 11:00–11:45 pm! Exercise is a proven mood booster – give your body, mind, and heart the gift of exercise!

Drop-In Billiards

Rack 'em up! Stop in at 1:00 pm Saturdays to join us for a game or two of pool! It's a great opportunity to hone your skills while chatting with some familiar faces.
